I’ve been flying quite a bit in my life and, I didn’t always make the right choices in what to wear and bring with me in my hand luggage. Practice makes perfect and along the years I became a specialist in how to ‘dress to the occasion’ and which essentials to take with me to make my flight more enjoyable.
1 – COMFORTABLE CLOTHING & SHOES
I used to dress up and wear high heels but honestly… on my way to the airport and in the plane I just want to feel comfortable – so now I wear stretchy pants & matching top + comfy sneakers.
2 – NOISE-CANCELLING EARBUDS
I’m pretty sensitive to noises so I always bring noise-cancelling earbuds with me. Now I can enjoy reading a book, just relax or take a nice sleep without getting overwhelmed by all the surrounding noises.
3 – TRAVEL PILLOW & BLANKET
On a long-haul flight a travel pillow and – blanket are must-haves if you want to sleep in all comfort. The brand HAPPY LUXE is specialized in these travel items – the pillows & blankets are made from hypo-allergenic materials and feel super soft.
4 – SILK SLEEP MASK
Yes silk indeed… it makes all the difference if you have sensitive eyes. Silk is a hypoallergenic fabric and similar in pH to the human skin. 7 – TRAVEL WALLET
Nothing more annoying when you can’t find your money, passport, credit cards or travel documents. So I don’t travel without a travel wallet where everything is nicely organized so I can easily take it when needed. I really like the ones from ASPINAL OF LONDON.
8 – SKINCARE & MAKE-UP
Your skin gets really dry in a plane so make sure you always bring some essential skincare items like a hydrating (facial) cream and a lip balm.
Don’t forget to hydrate from within and buy a bottle of mineral water at the airport.

In regards to make-up, I only take a black eye-liner pencil & a small eye shadow palette in my carry-on bag for a lovely fresh look.

9 – IN ALL FRESHNESS
Hmm… we all want to smell nice for ourselves and others right? So I always put some deodorant and refreshing wipes in my hand luggage.
10 – HAND LUGGAGE
Without a doubt… go for the iconic 4 wheel suitcases from RIMOWA.
They don’t come cheap but they are true investment pieces which will bring joy on all your travels.
